Secondary Natural Sciences School "Acad. Boyan Petkanchin", Haskovo, Bulgaria

Here is what the Bulgarian coordinator and headmaster
Gergana Petrova wrote about the school:
Secondary Natural Sciences School “Acad. Boyan Petkanchin” was founded in 1972. It is one of the first schools in the country, set up to provide the students specialized secondary education in the subject of Mathematics. Profiling subjects of the school are Mathematics, Informatics and IT, English as a foreign language, Biology, Chemistry and History. This school year 2019/2020 there are 728 students at the age of 13 to 19 years and 51
teachers. Until now it has prepared over 4,900 young people who have continued their academic studies at universities in Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, the UK and the USA. All teachers have service accounts for access to the Office 365 platform and are qualified to use basic cloud technology tools. PMG has been defined as innovative by an Act of the Council of Ministers of 2019. An online administration has been set up in the high school. Many teachers are registered on the eTwinning platform and have participated in professional development courses, online trainings and work in national and international projects. In 2019 we set up a state-of-the-art experimental laboratory for biology under the Ministry of Education and Science program. That required a new way of teaching through the use of interactive classroom content.
The development of competencies for creating a sustainable environment, using tools effectively information and communication technologies to reduce the resources used in education process, the desire to build an eco-school, the introduction of new teaching methods and self-study will
guarantee higher student outcomes and make them more active inclusion in all areas of school and social life.

IES Rio Verde, Marbella, Spain

Here is what the Spanish coordinator Elena Reyes wrote about the school:

I.E.S Río Verde is a Secondary and Professional Training School located in Marbella, in the province of Málaga. Its economy is mainly based on tourism and commerce. There are 104 teachers and around 1500 students and a total of 32 nationalities are present among these students. It’s a French bilingual high school, which means that some of the subjects are taught in French and from the academic year 2011/2012 our students also participate annually in another mobility with the High School “Lycée Saint-Exupery in Blagnac (France). French, together with English, are the two foreign languages that our students learn.
Teenagers and adults study at our high school, as it offers classes in the morning and in the evening. It is essential to us to participate in different projects and motivate our students not only with the participation in these projects but also with the new technologies since the use of them is paramount in our lessons. Our main motivation to join the project is to create opportunities for our students to get better jobs in the future and for the integration of every student. We strongly believe that with the participation in the project we will help our students to develop themselves as individuals and to develop also the different key competences such as the social, cultural, civic and entrepreneurship competences.

Agrupamento de Escolas do Barreiro, Portugal

Here is what the Spanish coordinator Ana Pina wrote about the school:

The school, belongs to a large group of schools in Barreiro. It is a unit of public and the headquarter integrates both Primary School and Elementary school. There are also several pupils with learning difficulties of different type (dyslexia, disorders). The school is presenting this project in order to improve school's “educational offer”.
Our students are really interested in using the foreign language "English" in their daily lives but they don't have any chance to go to abroad for this because of their families' limited budgets. This ERASMUS project will help them use English in their daily lives and our pupils will learn about different countries and their biodiversity.
Being part of ERASMUS+ is the best way of learning about other countries, it’s a breakaway for our students to have contact with a new common Europe. European projects are essential to develop key competences for lifelong learning and, according to European guidelines, to improve: communication in a foreign language, digital competence, interpersonal skills.
Our schools have an excellent understanding and training in the communication platform (e-mail, Skype, blogs, websites, etwinning) to communicate with fellow European partners. They also had several STEM International projects like inGenious, Go Lab, iTec and Livind School Lab. The teachers use the innovative computer programming tool Scratch as an educational tool within the classroom. The classes in our school have a complementary subject called citizenship, in which they deal mostly with European dimension, but also with other kinds of cultures. We have a long tradition of sport and music activities.
